Last month we dived into the relatively murky waters of local sports rights. I appreciate the feedback, with many people…
Dear Santa
Dear Santa,
I know I haven’t written you in almost 45 years now, but after watching all these Christmas movies where you deliver one miracle after another I can’t help but reach out to you as a fan of Arizona sports teams.
Santa … we don’t have a winning sports team here. Not one … I’m sure you already know this. I’m also sure that I won’t be the only one wishing for a winning team this year.
Honestly Santa, I don’t care who you make better. I’ve always loved the Devils, DBacks and Coyotes but I’ll take a better Suns team. Heck, I know it’s a big ask but I’ll even take a Cardinals team like the one we had last year.
Before I forget, thanks for always making the Waste Management Phoenix Open a great event. I’m also grateful for the Fiesta Bowl, that’s always an exciting game. Spring training is great too Santa… especially at Peoria Sports Complex, where they have tons of great new amenities, craft beers and delicious food. It’s probably the best place in the valley to catch a game especially for families, sociable Millennials and companies looking for a great deal on group events.
Also… if you aren’t busy right after Christmas, come out to the Patriot All America Golf Tournament at the Wigwam. It’s a super great event where some of the best college golfers play to honor fallen American servicemen. This is a free event with complimentary food and drinks in the hospitality tents.
Quick question Santa … does shameless self-promotion put me on the “naughty list?”
Back to the matter at hand Santa … if you could find the time to make just one of our Arizona sports teams successful I would be forever grateful. Each one of these teams has wonderful people working for them and when they win, lots of people are happy.
I guess in writing you Santa I realize just how fortunate that I really am. I mean I have the NFL, NBA, NHL and MLB all in my backyard. I also have one of the very best universities in the country with a rebuilding football team, a scrappy basketball team and a baseball team that might just make a guys Christmas wish come true.
Sincerely,
Ed Olsen
